Description

Replace the factory balancer on your Dodge 5.9L diesel with the XDP Premium Balancer Series - Stock Replacement Harmonic Balancer XD705. A harmonic balancer (also known as a crankshaft vibration damper) serves more than just the function of spinning the pulleys on an engine. It is designed to help eliminate engine harmonics, reducing vibrations that might otherwise transfer into the cab of your truck. Composed of three primary components - the hub, the rubber damper, and the outer ring, the balancer is carefully calibrated through factors such as sizing and balance to help dampen engine power pulses and provide smooth engine operation.

The XDP Premium Balancer Series are a direct-fit replacement and designed to deliver excellent strength and durability. In contrast to many other balancers that utilize inexpensive gray iron castings, XDP Premium Balancers are constructed using high-strength Spheroidal Graphite Cast Iron considered a near-steel strength material. Additionally, while most OEM balancers rely on press-in dampening rubber that may fail under high-torque serpentine belt applications, XDP harmonic balancers use both inserted and pressure-bonded rubber that produces excellent rubber strength.

Features:
  • Direct Fit Replacement
  • Spheroidal Graphite Cast Iron Construction
  • Constructed With Inserted And Pressure-Bonded Rubber
  • Superior Bonding Strength Between The Inner And Outer Balancer Rings

TECH TIPS:
Vehicle manufacturers often times simply recommend inspecting the damper every 30K miles or at set intervals. This can make it hard to determine when to physically replace the damper. When a harmonic balancer requires replacement, these are often some of the most common reasons.

Deterioration of the Rubber Damper:
The rubber that binds the components of the balancer together is susceptible to degradation when exposed to oil, contaminants, extreme heat, dirt roads, or ozone damage. This deterioration can lead to improper balancer function, often manifesting as unexplained vibrations at idle or at higher speeds. A thorough inspection of the rubber can confirm the issue, and in such cases, the balancer may need to be replaced.

Engine Rebuild:
When rebuilding or remanufacturing an engine, it is crucial to replace the harmonic balancer to ensure optimal performance. Installing an old, worn balancer on a freshly rebuilt engine undermines the integrity of the rebuild and could result in undesirable vibrations. A new balancer ensures a smoother, longer-lasting operation.
